NURSING SERVICES The nursing team offer the following services: ¨ Contraceptive Care - By doctors, practice nurses and the midwife. ¨ Antenatal Care - Monday afternoons. ¨ Child Health Clinic - Wednesday 1.00 pm - 3.00 pm ¨ Nurses Treatment Sessions - Monday to Friday, 8.30 am - 11.30 am Tuesday & Thursday 2.00 pm - 4.30 pm Monday, Wednesday & Friday 4.00 pm - 7.00 pm ¨ Taking blood tests. ¨ Infant and adult immunisations. ¨ Cervical smears. ¨ Dressings and removal of stitches. ¨ Ear syringing. ¨ Monitoring blood pressure, asthma, hypertension and diabetes. ¨ Minor Illness - Our nurse team are available to see patients with minor conditions such as urinary tract infections, sore throats, conjunctivitis, etc. Please note these sessions are by same day appointment. ¨ Lifestyle/Health Checks - On registration if over five years old. Elderly (over 75 years) - an annual check is available. ¨ Well Person Checks - These are available to all patients. Please make an appointment at afternoon or evening nurses’ clinic. These offer simple checks such as weight, blood pressure and urine tests, plus cancer smears for women. ¨ Travel Clinic - A full range of immunisations are available at any nurses’ surgery on completion of travel form. ¨ Minor Surgery - Some minor procedures are carried out here. Your doctor will advise you. ¨ Minor Injury - If a minor injury requires suturing, glue or steri-strips our same day nurse may be able to help. They also assist the doctors in minor surgery and are always available to offer professional advice. Any member of the practice health care team will be happy to see you in surgery hours to advise on the following: Alcohol problems Stress counselling Weight reduction Smoking Pre-menstrual tension Contraception |
